Since the 80’s in particular, the Fashion Academy acquired international recognition thanks to the success story of the 'Antwerp Six'. This refers to the six designers who graduated between '80-' 81 from the Fashion Academy: Ann Demeulemeester, Dries van Noten, Walter van Beirendonck, Dirk van Saene, Dirk Bikkembergs & Marina Yee. Later, other famous designers like Martin Margiela, Raf Simons and Haider Ackermann followed in their footsteps.
