With 4 big ports, the maritime sector plays an important logistical role in Flanders. Accordingly, a series of courses is provided that specialises in the maritime sector. An overview of the available courses in maritime studies can be found below.
The Antwerp Maritime Academy is the only college in Belgium for training in Nautical Sciences (Bachelor and Master) and Marine Engineering (Bachelor). The courses are available in Dutch or French. There are over 35% foreign students with 20 different nationalities.
University of Ghent and the VUB in Brussels offer an English Master in Maritime Sciences aimed at an international audience. The multidisciplinary approach makes this one of the most unique forms of training of its kind worldwide. The strong interaction with the maritime sector through guest lectures and excursions provides students with up-to-date information on ports and shipping.
The Master of Maritime and Air Transport Management offered by the Antwerp Management School (University of Antwerp) is an English course aimed at an international audience with a background in Economics or Management focusing on transport-related matters.
